Smart money is still in sedans: 2018 Honda Accord revealed

14 Julio 2017

Zacks Investment Research cut shares of Honda Motor Company, Ltd. (NYSE:HMC) from a hold rating to a sell rating in a research report report published on Tuesday, June 27th. But we wanted to add something new: a level of emotion and premium appeal that elevates Accord beyond its affordable, midsize sedan roots.

Warning Device: Having and using a visible or audible warning device is another item that can ensure that your car remains where you left it. The driver's seat has 12-way adjustment, and the front seats can be heated and cooled.

An all-new HMI is present in the Accord, which has a new 8-in.

It starts with the new design, and with us today are the two lead designers for Accord, Mr. Morikawa, for the exterior and Mr. Shimizu for the interior.

Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

"The biggest challenge for the new Accord is that it's a mid-size car", said Michelle Krebs, executive analyst for Autotrader.

At this stage though, even though Honda Australia wants the car, there's no confirmation or guarantee that we will see it here. Honda tuned the small turbo mill to peak at 192 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque, which it produces between 1,500 and 5,000 rpm. (370 Nm) of torque from 1,500-4,000 rpm.

As senior editor Nelson Ireson learned while testing a prototype in Japan last month, Honda will be also touting a new optional engine and transmission for the 2018 Accord.

A six-speed manual will be available in the 'Sports' model.

. In concert with the new 10-speed, Ireson's test run in the prototype left him impressed with the new powertrain's minimal turbo lag, smooth acceleration, and unobtrusive transmission.

The Accord and Camry are pillars of their manufacturers' U.S. businesses, each selling well over 300,000 vehicles a year. Honda does not release fuel economy figures in pre-reveal press materials.

"They could take share from other brands, which is traditionally what happens when a new product is launched", said Pete DeLongchamps, vice president for manufacturer relations at Group 1 Automotive Inc., the third-largest U.S. auto dealer group.

Honda says the engine will be paired with the world's first drive motors to use magnets with no heavy rare-earth metals.

Honda will also offer the 2018 Accord with its twin-engine hybrid powertrain.

As with most recent sedan redesigns, the Accord's wheelbase and overall width grows while height is lowered. So, let me begin that story by saying that this is, unquestionably, the most dramatic remake of Accord we've ever done. A-pillar width is down by 20 percent and they're moved them further back relative to the driver, whcich further improves visibility.

As in the Camry Hybrid, Honda has now mounted the high-voltage battery pack under the rear seat, preserving a split folding rear seat back. Vehicle dynamics nerds will appreciate the 10-millimeter lower center of gravity and shorter front and rear overhangs, pushing the wheels to the corner of the car. (50-80 kg) depending on grade.

But it also has a larger rear seating area, more passenger volume and more trunk space.
