Cleanup from massive Florida sinkhole expected to take weeks

17 Julio 2017

The sinkhole is about 50-feet deep and 225-feet across.

On Saturday, Pasco County brought in a University of South Florida scientist, who said the water is safe to use for the four families allowed to return to their homes.

Fortunately, there was nobody inside the two homes during the incident.

Both homes destroyed have had sinkhole remediation in the past, according to Pasco County Emergency Management.

Additional residents wishing to have their water tested for E. coli or other possible contaminants can request to do so through the Pasco County Environmental Lab. E. coli tests will be provided for a $7 fee.

The road suddenly comes to a halt as the sinkhole appears to have taken part of the street away along with the home. Authorities will test the water starting Monday for 20 homes in the area.
