Neymar's debut in French league could be delayed again

#NeymarAuVillage ("Neymar to the village") has been trending on Twitter this week ahead of PSG and Neymar's visit to the department of Cotes-d'Armor - yes, the Internet and Twitter exist in such a sleepy place - and the club have also been joking about their country bumpkin image, not to mention their love of tractors and menial work.

There have been many of those sorts of comments too since Neymar showed the audacity to leave Barca for PSG in a world-record €222 million deal.

The former Santos forward was then expected to play on Sunday night at Guingamp at the 18,000-capacity Stade du Roudourou, but PSG fans might have to wait a bit longer to see the star in action.

That certainty was expressed by head coach Unai Emery as he prepared PSG for the trip west to Brittany.

It brings him level with former Arsenal favourite Kevin Campbell, who breached Manchester City swiftly at Highbury in 1994, while Colombia great Faustino Asprilla also punished Sheffield Wednesday in the second minute of the 1997-98 campaign while at Newcastle United.

Real Madrid made most of the early running for Mbappe but, like a British athlete at the world championships, the Spanish outfit faded as the pressure increased, allowing PSG to steal in and make off with the gold.

Although the main goal for the capital club is to finally challenge for the Champions League crown, their first task this term will be to retake the Ligue 1 title from Monaco.

"You want to play against (Lionel) Messi, you want to play against (Cristiano) Ronaldo".

To say Sanchez was influential last season would be an understatement.

It promises to be quite the debut for Neymar. These hero stories - that one is better than everyone and so on - I don't think that Neymar had that specific idea. "The whole team must be at its best", Ikoko said.

Monaco had been insistent they wanted to hold on to the teenager despite strong interest from Real Madrid, but they were unable to resist the financial power of the Parisians who've shook up the summer transfer with their £360million double swoop for Mbappe and Neymar. "It's in this spirit that you do your job".
