Bellerin did his best to style it out and show no reaction as he continued the interview, but the young Arsenal player couldn't hide a slight smile at the antics.

A lack of supply from his teammates could be highlighted by Lacazette's fewer shots, although he has been more clinical than Morata, converting 30 per cent of his chances compared to 21 per cent from the Chelsea striker.

"They have done great to turn things around after a difficult start".

"They will be confident and they have good players who look decent when they are winning".

"They just need another striker". It won't matter against Arsenal though.

"If Arsenal score first it will be a very interesting match, but I don't think they will".

They will likely lead their respective lines on Sunday when two old adversaries take in a crunch Premier League derby clash which could go a long way towards shaping the fortunes of Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte this season.

When asked about whether he would pick Lacazette over Morata, Merson said on Sky Sports' The Debate: "No, I like him (Lacazette), I think he is a good player - but Morata is top top draw". Morata is going to be an absolute star in the Premier League. But his knee knock was probably still affecting him as the ball got a bit stuck under his feet and all he managed was a tame chip that deflected easily off Čech's shoulder. He's hit the ground running.

But the second half was not producing the same attacking action as the first, resulting in Arsenal making their first change with 24 minutes remaining, Sanchez replacing Lacazette, with Chelsea promptly responding by introducing Hazard in place of Willian.

Arsenal spent £46 million landing Lacazette from Lyon, while Chelsea paid Real £60m for Morata.
