Real Madrid suffer further setback with Gareth Bale hamstring injury

13 Noviembre 2017

The Welshman has suffered a staggering 24 injuries since making the move to Real Madrid, costing him a total of 56 league games.

The 17-year-old agreed a move to Real this summer but he is back on loan at Flamengo.

Luke Shaw's Manchester United purgatory could be nearing its end, with The Times stating that the club are prepared to sell him in January for £20m, two thirds of what they paid to bring him from St Mary's to Old Trafford three years ago. His injuries and recent form haven't helped either.

Just 15 months on from carrying his country to the semi-finals of Euro 2016, Bale also had to watch on in agony from the stands as Wales' attempts to qualify for a first World Cup since 1958 fell short last month.

Why has Vinicius Jr been dubbed the 'next Neymar'?

"Gareth has been injured for a long time", Madrid attacker Isco said before Spain's international friendly against Costa Rica on Saturday.

Yet another breakdown means he will be out until the new year having played just five league games this season.

Bale's time at Tottenham would make a return to North London incredibly emotional for the wide man, but Chelsea and United may be more willing to match his financial demands in order to lure him back to England.

Bale's time in Madrid has not been short of success. Though, Bale must also feel that his body's failure to keep up with the demands is a problem of his own.

Is Bale being rushed back too often? The Frenchman was gifted an unexpected boost when Fernando Santos elected to spare Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal's friendlies while Karim Benzema's continuing Les Bleus exile gave the Real boss the opportunity to work with the "BBC" with full focus on the Madrid derby - a must-not-lose game if not quite a must-win. A half-volley, from outside the box, arrowing and swerving into the top corner - it was simultaneously beautiful and brutal.

Real Madrid will be patient with Gareth Bale and not think about selling him in the near future despite his injury concerns, says Terry Gibson.
