Outfielder Carlos Beltran announced his retirement after a 20-year major league career, going out on top by winning his first World Series championship with the Houston Astros. Cleveland and Minnesota will play a two-game series from April 17-18 at San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Philadelphia and the Mets will meet on Aug. 19 at Williamsport, Penn., near the site of the Little League World Series.

He had one of the great postseason runs of all time in batting.435 for the Astros in 2004.

In 2000, Beltran suffered a sophomore slump, managing to play in just 99 games.

Perhaps his most impressive feat came in his official rookie year. Each season from 2001-03 saw Beltran put up at least 24 home runs, 100 RBI, 102 runs scored and 31 stolen bases.

At the mention of one high profile job that remains open - that which Joe Girardi recently vacated, not of his own volition - Beltran was cagey about the possibility of taking his talents back to New York. Among switch hitters, his 1,078 extra-base hits rank second all-time behind only Hall of Famer Eddie Murray (1,099). He signed that winter with the New York Mets. Beltran laughed along with his teammates, but he also got the larger point of interrupting the grind of the season by having a few laughs.

Beltran was a nine-time All-Star, including at age 39 in 2016 with the Yankees, and won three Gold Gloves for his play in center field. Boone currently is an ESPN analyst and has been employed there for 12 years. "But it still feels nice to have a ring", he continued.

Now, let's see if he gets a gig on Dancing With The Stars like David Ross did when he retired from last year's World Series champions, the Chicago Cubs. Unfortunately, he could not secure a World Series title in a St. Louis Cardinals uniform.

"... I realized early on that my purpose in this game was to share knowledge with younger players and to give back to the game of baseball". His postseason contributions were limited to a clutch ninth-inning double in ALDS Game 4. You're an amazing teammate and leader. To have won the Roberto Clemente Award, which is the greatest honor I could have ever received as a ballplayer. Many peg him as a future manager. Contractors will be working under an ambitious timeline as the team wants to kick off the 2020 season at the new stadium. However, there is a chance he goes in wearing a Kansas City Royals baseball cap.

"Certainly. He's one of the brightest minds I've come across in the game", he said. The Raiders and the NFL are expected to contribute $500 million, while the team has also secured a $600 million bank loan. Will Beltran end up in the Hall of Fame? The MLB is a business and players should conduct their transactions as such.
