In India, the top movie of the year have been bagged by last year's Dear Zindagi followed by Sully and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi) and Raees.

The company on Thursday released its year-end list of top US apps for iPhones and iPads.

Recode reported that the company increased its political lobbying effort earlier this year with a view to drawing political attention to what it argues are discriminatory measures.

There's some predictable overlap between the two tech titans' lists of 2017 top sellers, as Game of Thrones, for instance, dominates both Apple and Google's latest yearly TV show charts.

According to DMN, Apple plans to migrate user's iTunes downloads towards a new Apple Music account, which - similarly to the platform's initial launch in 2015 - they'll offer for free for three months. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was also rated as the best song of 2016 by Apple.

Congrats to mindfulness and meditation app Calm and the $9.99 Affinity Photo from Serif Labs for taking home the coveted trophies, not to mention the little-known Splitter Critters and Thekla's The Witness for being named the 2017 iPhone and iPad Game of the Year respectively.

On iPad, the most popular free download was the official YouTube app.

Previously, all downloaded iOS apps, ringtones and books for PC were available in the iTunes media folder.

"Hillbilly Elegy" topped the nonfiction charts, leading a wave of titles on current events and politics. The app also includes features such as keyframe animations, chroma key compositing, and unlimited undo/redo. Taylor Swift's album "reputation" has already shot up to #3 on the 2017 US top album charts, despite having only been available for a short period of time.

The company determines its top apps on a per-country basis and picked different ones in other countries. On the iOS 11 App Store, the Today tab has been refreshed this morning with stories about the apps and games that were selected by Apple, featuring interviews with the developers and annotated screenshots.
