Real Madrid President Drops Biggest Neymar Transfer Hint

But Madrid president Perez thinks Neymar would have better luck at the Bernabeu.

Neymar finished third at Thursday night's award ceremony in Paris, as Cristiano Ronaldo came out on top for a fifth time to equal Lionel Messi's record.

Perez also said "everyone knew that I wanted to sign him", referring to the Brazil international that swapped Barcelona for Paris St-Germain in the summer, in a move believed to be driven by his desire to win the Ballon d'Or.

"Being in Madrid would make it easier to win the Ballon d'Or", Perez is quoted as saying by Marca. Madrid is a club that gives big players what they need.

Securing Neymar, albeit indirectly, from Barcelona would be the very last thing Catalans would want to see, especially since they're still trying to get over his PSG exit.

Perez tried to sign Neymar back in 2013 before the Brazilian sealed a move to arch-rivals Barcelona. But we are delighted to have Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi and Ronaldo have maintained a stranglehold on the award for the last 10 years. Following a rift with teammate Edinson Cavani in September over penalty-taking, the Brazilian also got involved in a brawl with boss Unai Emery, after which reports of him leaving the club went viral.

In an interview with El Partidozo de COPE, Perez said, "Mbappe is 18 years old, let's leave him to develop and see how far he can go". Recruit Neymar and wait for Mbappe to develop?

Pressed whether he would consider bringing Neymar to the club while Mbappe continues his development, Perez added: "It's not a bad idea".

The personal and team success has convinced one man that he belongs among the best to ever play the game. If someday Neymar's development converges with the interests of Madrid it could be. He also publicly said that Neymar has a better chance of winning Balon d'Or if he joins the Los Blancos.
