Cavani Breaks Zlatan's PSG Record In Win Over Montepellier

27 Enero 2018

Emery has been swiping away tales in the Spanish press of interest in Neymar from struggling Real Madrid.

The Uruguay striker took his PSG tally to 157 goals with an early strike in the 4-0 Ligue 1 win over Montpellier, overtaking Zlatan Ibrahimovic's previous benchmark.

PSG with 56 points from 22 games bank on Neymar and Edison Cavani to beat seventh-place Montpellier, who have gathered 31 points from 22 games to extend their lead in the table.

Having failed to score in consecutive games, the 30-year-old didn't have to wait long to break the record.

"As for Kylian, we are waiting for the doctor's decision", Emery added at Camp des Loges.

DF Thomas Meunier, 7 - The Belgium international was better than he was against Guingamp in the Coupe de France on Wednesday and assisted Di Maria's second-half goal.

FW Edinson Cavani, 7 - Although he was eclipsed by Neymar in what he did on the pitch, it was the Uruguayan's day because of his record 157th PSG goal - which earned him a booking and a handshake from referee Frank Schneider after his topless celebration. He's here in Paris and he's a great player.

Verratti's fellow Azzurri star Thiago Motta remains unavailable through injury and Lassana Diarra, who has been signed to provide depth behind the ageing Italian in defensive midfield, is not yet fit to feature.

They have only lost twice on the road and they have the best defence in Ligue 1.

Meanwhile, PSG defender Dani Alves has been handed a three-game ban by the French league (LFP) following his sending-off against Lyon last weekend.

"Lass should train with the squad for the first time later but we will give him a week or two to settle in".

He told reporters after seeing Ronaldo claim that particular prize for a fifth time in December 2017: "Being in Madrid would make it easier to win the Ballon d'Or".
